Greatway officially began for us in 2020, but its roots run much deeper. Our journey started in 2008 when my family and I immigrated to Canada. At just 9 years old, I found myself adjusting to a completely different life. Back home, I had the comfort of two nannies and my mom always by my side. Canada, however, presented a stark contrast. Both of my parents worked multiple jobs, and I had to step up to take care of my younger brother. My mom worked 3-4 jobs, and it was difficult for us to spend quality time together as a family.
In 2013, everything started to change. My mom was introduced to a business opportunity that required significant sacrifices—long hours and time away from us—but it ultimately became the best decision for our family. Over time, she was able to reduce her workload and spend more time with us. This business didn’t just improve our financial situation; it also allowed us to enjoy life in ways we’d never imagined, like traveling the world together.
Growing up, I watched my parents work tirelessly. I didn’t fully grasp the significance of what they were building until 2019, when I began to see the true potential of the business. I decided to pursue my license in 2020, during the pandemic. A turning point came while working a security job, where I met an 83-year-old coworker who was still working to pay his bills—even after recovering from knee surgery. His story struck me deeply, and it solidified my decision to focus on financial services.
Meanwhile, my husband had started the business in 2018. He graduated with a degree in Business Commerce, majoring in Supply Chain Management, and was licensed at the beginning of his first year of university. Having seen his mother work hard for over 20 years in Canada without significant financial progress, he realized the root issue was a lack of financial education. This realization inspired him to pursue a career in financial services, determined to create change for others.
I graduated from MacEwan University with a background in Police Studies, which initially fueled my interest in helping people through policing. However, my experiences led me to understand the importance of financial education in making a meaningful impact.
Together, we knew we didn’t want people to face a future where they’d have to work well beyond retirement age. I want to ensure that families are financially protected, whether life is short, allowing people to leave a financial legacy, and that if life is long, they have a reliable retirement income. I am passionate about educating people regarding the importance of leaving a financial legacy for their families. I realized that through financial education, I could help people in many ways—not just in one way, as I had initially planned with policing. Our mission at Greatway is simple: to empower people with the financial knowledge and tools they need to secure their futures. We believe that everyone deserves to live a life free from financial uncertainty, with the opportunity to thrive.
